El Cerro and VQS – group vacation
This spring we visited El Cerro once again for a group trip of 16 people and had an amazing time. We had 9 adults and mostly teenage children. The pool, the views, the convenient location are the best. Katy and Christian couldn’t be more friendly (the caretakers) and helped us out a lot. There are a total of 3 homes on the 30+ acre property and my family stayed at the “Rock House” which is at the highest point on the property and has an amazing views of Esperanza, Sun Bay beach and the surrounding hills. The houses are well provisioned and you’ll have no problems cooking if you chose to “dine in” which we did quite a bit due to the size of our group. The location is excellent as it is on the south side of the island just above Esperanza village which is where the beach front “mallecon” is located (restaurants, bars all within walking distance but far enough away from the noise) Also, the best beaches in my opinion, are on the south side of the island. We’ve been to Vieques a few times in the past 5 years and I can’t say enough about how clean and pristine the beaches are. On a trip a few years ago, it was sad to seen lot debris, mostly plastic shopping bags (which the island’s shops/grocery stores no longer use) and water bottles littered amongst the trees/bushes along the beaches. Not any more…you had to look hard to find litter anywhere on the beaches. And go to Bio Bay!!! It’s awesome and blew the minds of the usually unimpressed teenagers!
